According to ComicsAlliance, Emma Rios will be drawing a Dr. Strange GN, written by Greg Pak, due out next September! The book is part of Marvel’s new Season One GN initiative, retelling the origin stories of Marvel’s heavy-hitters.
This is not the first time Rios has drawn Dr. Strange, having worked on the 2010 Strange miniseries written by Mark Waid. She tells ComicsAlliance:
I love this status quo [of Dr. Strange’s early years]…The redemption of somebody who already had everything, who had power and felt invulnerable, but who ended up keeping nothing… At least in the beginning, I would like him to be unlikable, and follow him in his way of redemption till gradually you fall in love with him. I think there weren’t so many human depictions of the character. Even after losing his title… he was always considered a deus ex machina, which basically means you need a different approach to the character from what you do when you face, for example, Peter Parker or even [Captain America].
I’m a sucker for any and all magic-based stories, and Emma Rios’s art is damn near perfect for Dr. Strange. Do I really have to wait almost a year for it?
I did love her art in the last Strange series. It was very keen! :) (i will pick this up too.)
One of these days i want to draw Dr. Strange…just saying.
Yes, this pleases Katie.
